Buffet Olive Mountain Bike Classic and Trail Run
29th & 30th October 2011

Calling all mountain bike and trail running enthusiasts.

Whether you are a hardcore mountain biker or a novice trail runner, the Buffet Olive Mountain Bike Classic and Trail Run has something for everyone.

Nestled in the foothills of the Drakenstein Mountains in Paarl, Buffet Olives Estate is where some of the finest olives are grown.

For the first year, Buffet Olives has introduced an exciting but challenging trail run to its calendar. With a choice of 5km, 15km or 25km races, runners will be challenged but captivated by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Western Cape. The trail run will take place on Saturday, the 29th October 2011.

In its fourth year, the Mountain Bike Classic race will take place on Sunday, the 30th October 2011.

Running and cycling enthusiasts
can take part in the duo which will entail a 15 km trail run on the Saturday and 25km mountain bike ride on the Sunday.

Starting amongst olive groves the route takes riders and runners on 6km of easy farm roads before the tough climb to the forest. The 15km route then winds downhill with a final sting in the tail before the descent through the olive groves to the finish. For runners and cyclists doing the 25km route, a more gradual ascent follows in the shade of a pine forest before the course heads back to the finish. Cyclists on the 45km route will continue climbing to be rewarded with spectacular views and downhills with good doses of single track.

For the junior mountain bike enthusiasts there is also an easy 5km loop amongst the olive groves which is also the route for the 5km trail run.

Richard Allen, CEO of Buffet Olives comments, “ This is the 4th time that we are hosting this event and we attempt to make each one better than the previous. The varied course and great setting are good ingredients for an enjoyable run or ride.”

Families can enjoy a picnic under the olive trees while the little ones are entertained with a jumping castle. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Lucky draw prizes include olive hampers, wine and more.

Online entries are limited to 500 participants for the run and 1000 participants for the ride. To secure your spot visit www.entrytime.com

Berg River Canoe Marathon
2012
Paarl to Velddrif

Berg River Canoe MarathonThis is THE event on the WCCU racing calendar and the flagship event. The 4 day Berg River Canoe Marathon event covers a distance of over 250km from Paarl all the way to Velddrif. A hard race not for the feint hearted.

On the Tuesday a time trial is held to determine the starting positions of the top 60 paddlers.

The Berg River Canoe Marathon has been contested since 1961. It is an extremely tough challenge, taking place over four days and covering 227 kilometres, making it the longest race in South Africa.

It takes place in winter. The weather can be a fierce opponent, not to mention the tricky nature of the river. The water tends to be fast-flowing, but the channels are narrow, and overhanging trees give another angle to the test.

LOSLIT DAG FEES 2011 / CASUAL DAY FESTIVAL 2012
2012

Casual Day is a FUNdraising project benefiting persons with disabilities.

Each year we call upon South Africans to dress differently on the first Friday of September and to wear the Casual Day sticker to show their support for persons with disabilities.

Casual Day is South Africa's foremost fundraising event of this nature and raises more than just money — it raises awareness about persons with disabilities, opportunities for corporate comradeship, community support and welfare organisation participation.

SHOW YOU CARE WITH WHAT YOU WEAR . . .
as long as you also wear a Casual Day sticker!
