Mellasat Vineyards
Mellasat VineyardsMellasat Vineyards is the life long vision of Stephen Richardson, a Norfolk farmer born and bred in the UK. As a teenager, a definitive and surreal experience tasting fine Bordeaux wines with his grandfather, introduced him to the world of wine and it has become a passion ever since.

Mellasat's boutique wine cellar has been restored by Stephen from the original Victorian cellar building but the charm and history of Dekkersvlei are still very much in evidence as you pass through the cellar and take in some of the original fittings which have been retained and are on display in the tasting room.

As a small boutique winery, in an ever competitive market, our aim is to distance ourselves from the average "volume" producer and the perception that South African wine comes at a cheaper price point than other wine producing countries.

The working element of the cellar though, is very much an evolving practice as technology and artful creativity combine under the watchful eye of the winemaker. Mellasat hopes to remind people that fine wine is an experience which can't always be bought like bread and milk.

Nelson Wine Estate
Nelson Wine Estate. Winemaker Lisha NelsonNelson Wine estate was adjudged the Champion Wine Estate and Private Producer under 2000 tonnes for the Boland region in 2008. This is a reflection on the fantastic wines produced by the new winemaker, Lisha Nelson.

Lisha was appointed at the end of 2007, and after cleaning out the cellar at the start of her tenure, she set about her task of producing some of the finest wines in Soth Africa.

Her dream of "one day" creating great wines become a reality much sooner than anyone could have imagined. In her first harvest she managed to produce the runner-up wine in South Africa for 2008. Lisha has been going from strength to strength and the 2009 vintage is again looking very promising for the young winemaker.

The Estate has become internationally known as Nelson's Creek, named after the Nelson family and the small stream that winds its way through the Estate. It inspired and is depicted on the unique two-part label.

Rhebokskloof has extraordinary scenic beauty throughout the year. In the autumn months of March, April and May the trees lose their leaves in a dying burst of extravagant reds and golds; followed by a cold winter that sees snow falling on the highest peaks. Spring comes in September with an amazing show of wild flowers and hot, sunny summers see the vineyards heavy with fruit.

The Estate is renowned for its top quality wines, which you can sample in a magnificent trompe l'oeil decorated tasting room adjoining the main maturation cellar. And it is just as well known for the award winning meals served in its Victorian Restaurant and superb function venues.
